Jaipur, February 17, 2026: In a major expansion of welfare coverage, Sumit Godara, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, announced in the Assembly that 7.5 million (75 lakh) new beneficiaries have been added to the state’s Food Security Scheme under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. The move is aimed at ensuring that no eligible citizen in the state is deprived of subsidised food benefits.
Addressing supplementary questions raised by MLA Ramnivas Gawadia during Question Hour, the minister said the portal to add new beneficiaries under the National Food Security framework has been open since January 26, 2025, allowing all eligible individuals to register and avail scheme benefits. He noted that many deserving names were not included during the previous government’s tenure, which has now been rectified.
The minister also highlighted that the government is providing immediate relief in cases where beneficiaries face technical issues during e-KYC verification. Special relaxations are being granted to ensure that genuine beneficiaries are not denied their entitlements due to system-related problems.
Under the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ system, eligible beneficiaries can now access their foodgrain quota from anywhere in the country, enhancing portability and convenience. The minister added that wheat allocated under the scheme is lifted between the first and last date of the preceding month, and distribution to beneficiaries is carried out at fair price shops after biometric authentication through POS machines.
