A viral video from the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi has thrust Galgotias University into the national spotlight after it showcased a robotic quadruped dog named Orion as part of its high-profile AI demonstration. The Greater Noida-based institution presented the device at its pavilion, highlighting its potential for campus surveillance, monitoring, and interactive demonstrations with delegates. Attendees and viewers saw the robot navigating the floor, drawing crowds eager to witness applied AI in action during the ongoing summit at Bharat Mandapam.

Social media users quickly identified striking similarities between Orion and the commercially available Unitree Go2, an AI-powered robotic dog manufactured by China's Unitree Robotics and sold online for approximately ₹2-3 lakh. Reverse image comparisons and side-by-side posts flooded X, with many accusing the university of presenting imported technology as an in-house development from its Centre of Excellence. The backlash intensified after a clip showed a representative stating the robot "has been developed by the Centre of excellence at Galgotias University," tying it to the institution's reported ₹350 crore investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure, including NVIDIA-powered systems and student-led innovations.
