Multiple earthquake tremors were felt in Gujarat’s Rajkot district, including Jetpur, Dhoraji, Upleta, and nearby rural areas, causing panic among residents. The region experienced around seven tremors within a span of 11 hours.
Due to repeated seismic activity, local authorities declared a precautionary holiday for schools. According to data from the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR), several tremors were recorded on Friday morning. The strongest tremor, measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale, occurred at 6:19 am, with a total of seven tremors recorded until 8:34 am.
Frightened by the repeated shocks, residents rushed out of their homes and moved towards open fields. As per ISR reports, the epicenters of these earthquakes were located approximately 27 to 30 kilometers east-northeast (ENE) of Upleta. The depth of the tremors ranged between 6.1 km and 13.6 km below the earth’s surface. Earlier, a tremor of magnitude 3.3 was also reported in the same region at 8:43 pm the previous night.
