Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that an Engineers’ Research and Training Institute will be established in Madhya Pradesh with the aim of enhancing efficiency by providing training in new technologies and methodologies to engineers. He said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, through initiatives like PM Gati Shakti, has consistently encouraged engineers and boosted their morale in every challenging situation. Indian engineers have showcased their excellence in projects like the Chenab Bridge.
Addressing the state-level Engineers’ Day program at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium, Dr. Yadav said that the Public Works Department (PWD) has begun its journey from “Lok Nirman” to “Lok Kalyan” by ensuring quality, durable, and welfare-oriented facilities for society. He inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp and paying floral tribute to Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, whose 164th birth anniversary was being celebrated.
Indian Heritage in Engineering Excellence
The Chief Minister stated that the very meaning of an engineer is “initiator,” and our engineers are pioneers. He drew parallels between engineers and Lord Hanuman, who symbolize the ability to simplify even the toughest tasks. Referring to Indian tradition, he said Lord Vishwakarma is revered as the deity of technology and engineering, while India’s Parliament buildings were inspired by ancient Madhya Pradesh architecture. He also recalled the contributions of great minds like Sir Visvesvaraya and scientist Jagdish Chandra Bose.
A Visionary Guide for Engineers
Dr. Yadav emphasized that Sir M. Visvesvaraya, regarded as the “Vishwakarma of Modern India,” transformed technology into a powerful medium for development and public welfare. His farsightedness, dedication, and engineering genius will continue to inspire the vision of building a strong and prosperous nation.
Launch of Two Digital Platforms
On this occasion, Dr. Yadav launched two major digital platforms of the PWD – the PWD Survey App and the Project Management System. He also released the department’s newsletter focused on achievements, schemes, and innovations.

Under the guidance of PM Modi and CM Yadav, Madhya Pradesh has achieved significant milestones in infrastructure development. Regular inspections and digital platforms have enhanced transparency and accountability.
Engineers as the Backbone of Nation-Building
Renowned engineer and author Shri Prashant Paul called engineers the backbone of nation-building, recalling ancient India’s engineering marvels – from grand temples to advanced water management systems and stadiums. He cited examples like hydro power systems and scientifically designed cities built under visionary rulers such as Raja Bhoj.
Sir Visvesvaraya’s Enduring Legacy
Principal Secretary (PWD) Shri Sukhveer Singh and Chief Engineer Shri Sanjay Maske also addressed the gathering. They underlined Sir Visvesvaraya’s role in projects such as the Tigra Dam in Madhya Pradesh, his many contributions to infrastructure development in India, and his strong nationalist ideals.
