The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) celebrated International Women's Day 2026 at its headquarters in New Delhi on March 10, marking the successful conclusion of the nationwide “Special Service Fortnight 2026.” The initiative reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting the rights, recognition, and welfare of women employees and beneficiaries.
The event highlighted ESIC’s guiding theme “Give to Gain,” reflecting the corporation’s philosophy of selfless service and its continued efforts to strengthen social security for workers across the country.
Focus on Welfare of Over 3.84 Crore Insured Persons
Speaking at the event, ESIC Director General Ashok Kumar Singh said the theme underscores the organisation’s commitment to social security and welfare.
Currently, ESIC provides healthcare and social security services to more than 3.84 crore insured persons and their families, with special emphasis on women’s health, maternity benefits, and overall well-being.
ESIC Financial Commissioner T. L. Yaden reiterated the organisation’s dedication to empowering women beneficiaries by ensuring access to quality healthcare, safety, and welfare services across India.
‘Purple Ribbon’ Pledge Against Abuse
During the programme, ESIC officials and staff members took the “Purple Ribbon” pledge, an initiative by Ashray Trust aimed at opposing exploitation and abuse of women and girls.
The pledge ceremony was led by programme coordinator Munjesh Yadav, emphasising collective community responsibility to protect vulnerable sections of society.
Guest speaker and life coach Anju Bahri encouraged women to value themselves, embrace change with confidence, and strive for personal growth. Female employees who participated in competitions, including a poster contest, were also honoured during the event.
Health Initiatives Under Special Service Fortnight
The Special Service Fortnight was organised from February 24 to March 10, 2026, coinciding with the 75th foundation year celebrations of ESIC.
As part of the nationwide campaign, several initiatives were conducted, including:
Awareness camps for insured workers
Health check-up programmes
Yoga and AYUSH sessions
“Suvidha Samagams” to resolve stakeholder grievances
A major new initiative launched during the fortnight was daily health screening for insured workers aged above 40, in line with provisions of the new labour codes, with the aim of early detection of occupational diseases.
Strengthening Social Security Delivery
The activities were conducted across ESIC’s regional offices and hospitals nationwide, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to accessible healthcare, social security, and equal opportunities for all workers.
Through these initiatives, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation aims to strengthen the delivery of social protection while promoting health awareness and empowerment among insured workers and their families.
