London: UK equities moved higher in the latest trading session, with the FTSE 100 rising 1.59% to 10,412.24, supported by strong gains in mining, financial, and industrial stocks.
Broader UK markets also posted gains. The FTSE 250 advanced 1.78% to 22,492.27, while the FTSE 350 climbed 1.61%. The FTSE All‑Share Index and FTSE AIM All‑Share Index also ended the session in positive territory.
Mining Stocks Lead the Rally
Precious metals and mining companies dominated the list of gainers. Fresnillo plc led the FTSE 100 risers, surging 8.10% to 3,792.00. The strong performance reflects continued investor interest in mining companies amid fluctuations in commodity prices.
Another major gainer was Anglo American plc, which rose 6.56% to 3,332.00, while copper producer Antofagasta plc climbed 5.98% to 3,881.00.
Industrial and Financial Stocks Advance
Aerospace and defense giant Rolls‑Royce Holdings also posted strong gains, rising 5.85% to 1,311.00, continuing its strong momentum in the UK market.
Meanwhile, investment firm Pershing Square Holdings added 5.69%, while airline group International Consolidated Airlines Group climbed 5.17%.
Banking stock Barclays gained 5.13%, reflecting renewed investor confidence in the financial sector. Homebuilder Persimmon plc also advanced 4.54%, rounding out the list of top FTSE 100 risers.
