New Delhi, February 16, 2026: A sharp decline in gold and silver prices ahead of the wedding season has brought major relief to buyers. Compared to their all-time highs, gold has become cheaper by nearly ₹38,000, while silver has recorded a steep fall of about ₹1.75 lakh per kilogram. With rising jewellery costs pushing up wedding expenses, the correction is being seen as positive news for consumers.
According to the latest data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), 24-carat gold is now priced at ₹1,52,765 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold is trading at ₹1,39,933 and 18-carat gold at ₹1,14,574 per 10 grams. Silver prices have declined to around ₹2,42,433 per kilogram.
How big is the fall?
On January 29, 2026, silver on MCX had touched a record high of ₹4,20,800 per kilogram, which has now dropped by nearly ₹1.76 lakh. Similarly, gold has fallen from its all-time high of ₹1.94 lakh to around ₹1.52 lakh. In a single day alone, silver slipped by ₹17,000, while gold declined by about ₹3,000.
