New Delhi | April 17, 2026: The government on Friday said domestic LPG supply remains stable across India, even as geopolitical tensions in West Asia continue to disrupt global energy logistics.
Addressing a briefing, Petroleum Secretary Sujata Sharma said nearly 50 lakh LPG cylinders were delivered to households in a single day, with no supply disruptions or dry-outs reported at distributorships nationwide.
Digital push driving efficiency
- 98% of LPG bookings are now made online
- 93% of deliveries are authenticated via delivery authentication codes
The government said these measures have significantly improved transparency and delivery efficiency.
Commercial LPG supply recovering
- ~70% restoration in commercial LPG supply
- 8,200 tonnes sold in a single day
- Over 79 lakh 19-kg cylinders sold since last month
Auto LPG demand has also surged, with sales rising from 177 tonnes/day in February to 296 tonnes/day in April — a 67% increase. Additionally, over 16.5 lakh 5-kg cylinders have been sold so far.
Shipping and seafarer operations stable
Additional Secretary Mukesh Mangal said India is coordinating closely with global stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted maritime operations.

- No incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels in the past 24 hours
- Over 2,400 seafarers repatriated so far
The DigiShipping control room has handled over 6,700 calls and 14,000 emails since activation.
MEA monitoring situation closely
Additional Secretary (Gulf) Assem R. Mahajan said the Ministry of External Affairs is in constant touch with Indian missions and state governments to ensure the safety of the Indian community in the region.
