Jaipur, Feb 15: Emphasizing the strategic importance of the mining and minerals sector in India’s long-term development, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde said that sustainable growth of the mineral industry, coupled with safe mining practices and environmental protection, must remain a national priority. He underlined that the vision of a developed India can only be achieved through inclusive growth, ensuring the welfare, health security, insurance, and improved working conditions of mining workers.
The Governor was addressing an international seminar on “Vision 2047 – Mining and Minerals Perspective” organized by the Rajasthan Chapter of the Mining Engineers’ Association of India at a private hotel in Jaipur on Sunday.
Highlighting the need for technological transformation, the Governor stressed the integration of modern mining technologies with traditional Indian practices to ensure safer and more efficient mining operations. He noted that India is moving forward rapidly in the digital technology domain and that structured efforts are being made across sectors to achieve the goal of a developed nation by 2047.
Referring to broader socio-economic progress, he said major government initiatives in poverty alleviation and social welfare have significantly improved living standards, contributing to inclusive national development. He called upon the mining industry to adopt effective strategies that not only strengthen the national economy but also support local economic growth in mineral-rich regions.
The Governor also urged the association to contribute toward improving livelihoods in mining areas and ensuring balanced regional development. Touching on cultural and social responsibility, he highlighted the need for conservation efforts related to Nandi on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
The seminar brought together industry experts, policymakers, and mining professionals to deliberate on sustainable growth, technological innovation, and the future roadmap for India’s mining and minerals sector as a key pillar of Viksit Bharat 2047.
