New Delhi: Heavy rainfall has triggered flood-like conditions across several parts of the country, disrupting normal life and prompting large-scale rescue and relief operations by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in Assam and Bihar.
NDRF teams have been working continuously in flood-affected regions, using Inflatable Rubber Boats (IRBs) to evacuate stranded residents to safer locations and distribute essential supplies, including food packets and drinking water.
Assam Operations
A total of 18 NDRF teams have been deployed across Assam during the monsoon season. In Morigaon district, NDRF personnel conducted rescue and relief operations, evacuating 594 stranded villagers to safer locations.
In Golaghat district, an NDRF medical team comprising doctors, medics, and paramedics organized a health camp and provided medical assistance to 116 people affected by the floods.
Bihar Relief Efforts
In Bihar, NDRF teams have been carrying out rescue and relief operations in flood-prone districts including Araria, Darbhanga, Katihar, Madhubani, Motihari, Sitamarhi, and Supaul. Teams are also assisting local authorities in distributing relief materials in flood-ravaged areas.
According to officials, NDRF personnel have evacuated more than 4,100 people in Bihar so far.
Over 11,000 Evacuated During Monsoon Season
NDRF responders continue efforts to reach every stranded individual in flood-hit regions. Across the affected states, the force has evacuated more than 11,000 people and provided medical assistance to over 230 individuals during the ongoing monsoon season.
