The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, will celebrate its 8th Foundation Day on April 1, 2026, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening tribal education across India.
Operating under the broader vision of Narendra Modi, NESTS continues to expand access to quality education for tribal communities through the Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) network. The organisation is responsible for the establishment, management, and academic support of these residential schools aimed at delivering holistic and high-quality education to tribal students.
The event will be attended by key dignitaries, including Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram as Chief Guest. Other prominent attendees include Ministers of State Durga Das Uikey and Savitribai Thakur, along with Parliamentary Committee Chairperson Faggan Singh Kulaste and Tribal Affairs Secretary Ranjana Chopra.
The programme will feature:
- A presentation highlighting key achievements and initiatives of EMRS over the past year
- Cultural performances by EMRS Manipur students, showcasing tribal heritage
- Recognition of meritorious students for excellence in academics and co-curricular activities
Since its inception, NESTS has played a critical role in expanding educational infrastructure, strengthening academic support systems, and creating new opportunities for tribal youth. Through the EMRS initiative, the Ministry continues to focus on empowering tribal communities by ensuring students achieve academic excellence while staying rooted in their cultural identity.
