The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today interacted with Secretaries to the Government of India at Lok Kalyan Marg.
Union Ministers Shri Rajnath Singh, Shri Amit Shah, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, and Dr. Jitendra Singh were present on the occasion.
Initiating the interaction, the Cabinet Secretary, Shri P. K. Sinha, recalled that during the previous tenure of the Government, the Prime Minister had directly interacted with officers up to the Director and Deputy Secretary level, underscoring the importance of inclusive and participative governance.
Looking ahead, the Cabinet Secretary outlined two key tasks to be undertaken by Sectoral Groups of Secretaries:
Preparation of a five-year vision and action plan for each Ministry, with clearly defined targets and milestones.
Identification of one major, high-impact decision per Ministry, for which approvals would be secured within the first 100 days.
During the interaction, Secretaries shared their vision and ideas on a wide range of subjects, including administrative decision-making, agriculture, rural development and Panchayati Raj, information technology initiatives, education reforms, healthcare, industrial policy, economic growth, and skill development.
Recalling his first such interaction with Secretaries in June 2014, the Prime Minister said that the recent General Elections were marked by pro-incumbency, a rare phenomenon, which reflected the trust reposed by the people in the Government’s performance. He attributed this to the collective efforts of officials who conceptualised schemes and ensured their effective delivery on the ground over the past five years.
The Prime Minister observed that the elections had witnessed a positive mandate, rooted in the everyday experiences of citizens and their trust in governance. He said that the people of India have articulated a clear vision for the next five years, and that the expectations arising from this mandate should be seen not as a challenge, but as an opportunity. The mandate, he said, reflects the aspirations of citizens seeking meaningful change and a better quality of life.
Highlighting the importance of India’s demographic dividend, the Prime Minister emphasised the need for its effective utilisation. He said that every Ministry and every district has a role to play in achieving the goal of making India a USD 5 trillion economy. He reiterated the significance of the Make in India initiative and called for tangible progress in boosting domestic manufacturing.
