The Rajasthan government has taken stringent action against irregularities in the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS), reinforcing its zero-tolerance approach toward corruption and misuse in welfare programmes. Acting on the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and under the direction of Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, the Medical and Health Department carried out decisive enforcement measures over the past week.
As part of the crackdown, FIRs have been registered against four pharma stores, while two stores have been suspended from the RGHS scheme. In addition, 14 personnel have been suspended, and letters have been issued to concerned departments seeking action and recovery against 19 RGHS cardholders who allegedly availed benefits through improper means.
Zero Tolerance for Corruption: Health Department
Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, Gayatri Rathore, stated that the state government is adopting a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of irregularity, corruption, or misuse in public welfare schemes like RGHS. She emphasized that strictest possible action is being ensured against those found guilty, with regular monitoring and enforcement to enhance transparency. FIRs are being registered wherever warranted, and the scheme is being strengthened through technological interventions to prevent misuse.
₹27 Lakh Fraud Detected in Bhilwara
CEO of the Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency, Harjeelal Atal, informed that Harikrishna Medical Store and Sawariya Pharma Store in Bhilwara were found guilty of serious irregularities. Acting on the findings, the Additional Drug Controller cancelled their drug licences and FIRs were registered.
The stores had fraudulently claimed payments under RGHS for medicines and injections that were never purchased or sold, resulting in a wrongful payout of approximately ₹27 lakh.
FIRs in Nagaur, Suspensions in Bikaner and Hanumangarh
Similarly, Confed Pharma Stores in Ren and Jayal (Nagaur district) were booked for manipulating RGHS prescriptions to obtain wrongful payments, leading to FIRs being lodged.
In cases involving grave violations, Confed Pharma Shop No. 06 in Bikaner and Shop No. 05 in Hanumangarh have been suspended from the RGHS scheme.
The Rajasthan government reiterated its commitment to protecting public funds and ensuring that healthcare benefits reach only genuine beneficiaries, warning that any attempt to exploit the RGHS scheme will invite swift and severe action.
