New Delhi, March 16:
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has announced a special initiative to facilitate visits for senior citizens to the iconic Amrit Udyan located inside Rashtrapati Bhavan. More than 10,000 elderly participants from across the country are expected to take part in the visit.
The garden, which is opened to the public every year during the spring season to showcase winter annual flowers, will be exclusively opened for senior citizens on March 17, 2026 as part of the initiative.
Special arrangements for senior citizens
The programme is being organised by the Ministry in collaboration with several institutions, including:
Delhi Police Senior Citizens Cell
National Institute of Social Defence
Anugrah – Regional Resource and Training Centre
Brahma Kumaris
Participants will be brought from various parts of the country, including the National Capital Region (NCR), with transport and logistical arrangements made to ensure smooth participation.
Promoting social engagement
The initiative aims to encourage social interaction, recreation, and active participation among senior citizens while allowing them to experience the scenic beauty of Amrit Udyan.
During the visit, participants will explore different sections of the garden known for landscaped lawns, seasonal flowers, and horticultural displays. Officials said the visit will offer senior citizens an opportunity to spend time in a peaceful natural environment.
