Raipur, March 10: The Government of Chhattisgarh has approved ₹153.82 crore for the strengthening and upgradation of the 35.5-km Rajim–Fingeshwar–Mahasamund main district road in Gariaband district.
Out of the total sanctioned amount, ₹139.49 crore has been allocated for road and bridge construction, while ₹14.34 crore will be used for land acquisition and utility shifting. The project will be executed by the Public Works Department Chhattisgarh.
The road project had earlier received approval on January 1 this year under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Following approval from Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Arun Sao, the state government has issued the administrative sanction order to the department’s chief engineer.
Sao has directed officials to ensure strict quality standards in materials and construction work, warning that responsibility will be fixed and action taken if any lapses are found.
The department has also instructed officials to complete the tender process within the stipulated timeline and ensure cost efficiency during execution. Construction agencies have been asked to finish the project within the agreed timeframe, with extensions allowed only in unavoidable circumstances approved by competent authorities.
