New Delhi, April 19, 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Deputy Director General from the Airworthiness Directorate of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), along with a private individual, in connection with a bribery case involving ₹2.5 lakh.
According to officials, the arrests were made after the agency caught the accused in the act, leading to the recovery of the entire bribe amount. The case pertains to alleged corruption in granting approvals and permissions related to applications pending with the DGCA.
The CBI registered the case on April 18, 2026, against the DGCA official and a representative of a New Delhi-based private company. Investigators allege that the public servant demanded undue advantage from private entities in exchange for facilitating regulatory clearances.
Following the arrests, the agency carried out coordinated searches at four locations across Delhi linked to the accused. The raids resulted in the seizure of cash worth ₹37 lakh, along with gold and silver coins and several digital devices, indicating possible wider financial irregularities.
Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the alleged corruption network and identify additional individuals involved in the case.
