Raipur, March 6, 2026: The Chhattisgarh government has approved ₹28.85 crore for five development projects under the Water Resources Department across various districts of the state. The decision was taken following directions from Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, aimed at enhancing irrigation capacity in forest regions and improving tourism facilities.
According to the Water Resources Department, the approved works include the expansion of the Hundika Reservoir Scheme in Baikunthpur block of Koriya (Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur) district, for which ₹16.49 crore has been sanctioned.
In Mungeli district, ₹3.76 crore has been approved for the beautification of the Maniyari (Khudiya) reservoir in Lormi block. The project will include the development of a water sports centre, park, picnic spot, renovation of the rest house/inspection house, and construction of a CC road with railings on the dam.
Another ₹2.79 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a divisional office, two sub-divisional offices, and residential buildings for the Executive Engineer and Sub-Divisional Officer on government land in Karhi/Dharampura village in Mungeli block.
Additionally, ₹3 crore has been approved for headworks, canal repair, and canal lining of the Ulnar Reservoir in Bakawand block of Bastar district.
In Kanker district, ₹2.80 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a stop dam in the Madpa–Nirul stream near Phoolsingh’s farm in Antagarh block.
