Raipur, February 10, 2026 — The Chhattisgarh Government’s Water Resources Department has approved ₹7.69 crore for two irrigation projects in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district. The sanctioned works include ₹4.11 crore for renovation of the Kanhar Anicut and construction of ghats in Ramanujganj town under Ramchandrapur block, which will support groundwater recharge, domestic use, and drinking water supply.
Additionally, ₹3.57 crore has been approved for the construction of the Girwani River Anicut under Ramchandrapur block. The project will enhance water conservation, support domestic and drinking water needs, improve connectivity, and enable irrigation of about 75 hectares of Kharif crops through farmers’ own resources.
Administrative approval for execution of the works has been granted to the Chief Engineer, Hasdeo Ganga Basin, Water Resources Department, Ambikapur.
