Raipur, April 6, 2026:
In a major push to rural infrastructure in Kabirdham district, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a ₹5.36 crore road and culvert construction project that will strengthen connectivity between villages and nearby urban centres.
The project involves the upgradation and construction of a 4.20-km all-weather road from the Bilaspur route via Daujri to Naudih, a strategically important stretch that serves as a lifeline for local farmers and residents.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held in village Naudih, where Sharma, who is also the MLA from Kawardha, formally launched the works estimated at ₹5,36,58,000.
Officials said the road is a key rural link that connects the Rabeli–Pratappur major district road directly with National Highway 30, making it a critical transport corridor for the region.
The improved route is expected to significantly benefit sugarcane farmers, who will now find it easier to transport produce to the Bhoramdeo Sugar Factory. The stretch had remained in a deteriorated state for a long time, causing serious inconvenience to villagers and farmers.
During the programme, the Deputy CM also distributed loan passbooks to farmers and announced the construction of a playground for the village.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma said the Vishnu Deo Sai-led state government is consistently working towards holistic village development, with major initiatives in roads, housing, farmer welfare, and women’s empowerment rapidly taking shape on the ground.
Highlighting social welfare initiatives, he said that under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, women across the state are receiving ₹1,000 every month directly into their bank accounts, and ₹25,000 has already been transferred to each beneficiary through 25 instalments so far, strengthening their financial independence.
He further noted that one of the government’s first major decisions after assuming office was the approval of 18 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, calling it a historic step. He added that the Awas Plus survey has also been completed, and efforts are underway to extend housing benefits to all eligible beneficiaries.
