Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that world heritage site Khajuraho and the surrounding regions, including Panna Tiger Reserve, are being developed with comprehensive facilities for tourists. He noted that while Khajuraho already had an airport, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now gifted the new Varanasi–Khajuraho Vande Bharat train, linking Bundelkhand’s pride—Matangeshwar Mahadev—directly with Kashi Vishwanath.
He added that the State Government has launched the new PM Shri Heli Tourist Service to enhance convenience for visitors. Along with this, interstate air services and air ambulance facilities are also now available. Dr. Yadav urged tourists to fully benefit from these enhanced services.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Madhya Pradesh has seen over 526% growth in tourist arrivals. In the past year alone, more than 13.41 crore visitors arrived in the state. With the government’s tourism promotion policies, this number is expected to rise further.
Dr. Yadav was addressing a programme in Khajuraho, where he formally inaugurated The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace by lighting a ceremonial lamp and cutting the ribbon. Oberoi Group owner Mr. Arjun Oberoi welcomed the Chief Minister with a bouquet and shawl.
“Khajuraho Blessed by the Divine”
Dr. Yadav said Khajuraho enjoys the divine blessings of the Almighty. With the launch of the Oberoi Group’s Rajgarh Palace Hotel, Khajuraho is entering a new era of prosperity. The State Government is continuously working toward the development of Bundelkhand.
He added that Khajuraho’s ancient architectural marvels attract visitors from across the world. Once the capital of Maharaja Chhatrasal, the region is known for the legendary tales of Alha-Udal. Spread across 70 acres, the grand new hotel will provide luxury experiences to tourists and create significant employment opportunities for locals.
Khajuraho Recognised as an Iconic City
Local MP Mr. VD Sharma said it is a historic day for Madhya Pradesh. Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts tourists from around the globe every day. He noted that the Prime Minister has identified 17 iconic cities in India, and Khajuraho is among them.
Foreign tourists also visit the nearby Panna Tiger Reserve in large numbers. With improved air connectivity and the regular Vande Bharat service, Khajuraho’s tourism prospects have further strengthened. He said that just as Panna is known for diamonds, Rajgarh Palace will emerge as the “diamond of the hotel industry.”
Oberoi Group: Rajgarh Palace to Be Gateway to MP Tourism
Mr. Arjun Oberoi described Rajgarh Palace as a tribute to Madhya Pradesh’s unmatched tourism potential and rich cultural heritage. The hotel’s design will offer visitors a close experience of the state’s historical legacy. He expressed hope that Rajgarh Palace will become a gateway for visitors exploring Madhya Pradesh.
