Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Wednesday inaugurated “Swachhotsav” by participating in Shramdaan (voluntary labor for cleanliness) along with local public representatives at M.Y. Hospital premises in Indore. On this occasion, he also flagged off the e-waste collection vehicles of Indore Municipal Corporation.
Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s birthday is being celebrated across the state under the theme “Swachhata Hi Seva” (Cleanliness is Service) campaign. He instructed hospital management and district administration officials to pay special attention to the cleanliness inside and outside M.Y. Hospital. He assured that the state government would extend all necessary support for developmental works at the hospital.
The Chief Minister administered the cleanliness oath to the citizens and appealed to everyone to remain conscious about hygiene, contributing two hours every week and 100 hours annually towards cleanliness through Shramdaan. He urged citizens “neither to create filth nor let it happen.” Dr. Yadav also released the logo of the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign.
E-Waste Collection Drive Launched
Indore Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav informed that e-waste is one of the most serious pollutants today, and if not disposed of scientifically, it can be extremely harmful to both the environment and human health.
To keep Indore clean and pollution-free, Indore Municipal Corporation has launched a special e-waste collection campaign from September 17 to October 2 under the “Swachhata Hi Seva” initiative.
In the first phase, e-waste drop boxes have been installed at the Municipal Corporation headquarters and the Indore Smart City office at Nehru Park.
Corporation officers and employees will deposit unusable and damaged electronic items like mobile phones, chargers, fans, computer parts, batteries, TVs, remotes, etc., in these drop boxes.
The campaign will be continuous, not just a one-day activity.
In the next phase, active citizen participation will be ensured by placing e-waste drop boxes at designated public locations and conducting door-to-door collection.
The Mayor appealed to citizens to responsibly deposit old and defective electronic items from their homes, shops, and offices at designated locations.
