Rajasthan DISCOMs have issued comprehensive operational guidelines for the effective implementation of the 150 units per month free electricity scheme. Under this ambitious initiative, domestic consumers registered under the Chief Minister Free Electricity Scheme will receive 150 units of free electricity per month generated from solar energy.
In the first phase, the benefit will be extended to consumers who have rooftops suitable for installing solar power systems. Notably, since the launch of the online portal on October 13, more than 1,66,355 electricity consumers have already registered their consent to install rooftop solar systems.
According to the issued guidelines, consumers installing rooftop solar systems will be eligible to receive a central subsidy of up to ₹78,000 under the PM Surya Ghar Scheme, depending on the plant’s capacity. In addition, for systems of at least 1.1 kW capacity, the state government will provide an additional ₹17,000 subsidy, which will be directly transferred to the consumer’s bank account after verification by the DISCOM through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
Registration through Portal
Only those domestic consumers who are already registered under the Chief Minister Free Electricity Scheme and own a rooftop suitable for solar installation will be eligible for this additional state subsidy.
Such consumers need to register their consent through the Rajasthan DISCOM website (https://energy.rajasthan.gov.in), https://150unitmuftbijli.bijlimitra.com, or the BijliMitra mobile app.
After this, they must also register on the national portal for the PM Surya Ghar Scheme, upload the required documents, and select an empanelled vendor. The rooftop solar system must be installed on their own property.
The supply and installation of the rooftop solar system will be carried out by the empanelled vendors under the PM Surya Ghar Scheme. The concerned Assistant Engineer of the DISCOM will inspect and verify the proper installation of the rooftop system.
