Mann Ki Baat – Key Highlights
In this edition of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on the overwhelming response received from citizens through letters, messages, and calls. He encouraged people to continue sharing their thoughts and proposed creating a dedicated book corner on the Narendra Modi App to promote reading and discussions on books covering diverse subjects.
Highlighting the importance of water conservation, he praised community-led efforts across the country, including initiatives in Jharkhand and Meghalaya. He also commended Haryana's efforts to encourage farmers to adopt crops requiring less water and urged people to use local fairs and festivals as platforms to spread awareness about water conservation.
The Prime Minister lauded ten young Indian cancer survivors who won medals at the World Children's Winners Games in Moscow, describing them as true champions who overcame adversity and brought pride to the nation.
He spoke extensively about Chandrayaan-2, calling it a symbol of India's scientific capability, self-reliance, faith, and fearlessness. He praised Indian scientists for their dedication and invited students to participate in a space and science quiz competition, with top performers earning a chance to visit Sriharikota.
Discussing cleanliness and sanitation, he noted the progress made through the Swachh Bharat Mission and highlighted efforts to transform cleanliness initiatives into beautification movements. He cited the work of social entrepreneur Yogesh Saini and his team in beautifying public spaces through street art.
The Prime Minister also discussed the "Back to Village" programme in Jammu & Kashmir, which brought government officials directly to villages to engage with citizens, understand local challenges, and improve governance. He praised the enthusiastic participation of villagers and emphasized the power of development and people's involvement.
Reflecting on the monsoon season and the month of Sawan, he highlighted various cultural and religious traditions, including the Amarnath Yatra and Chardham Yatra, both of which witnessed record pilgrim participation. He thanked the people of Jammu & Kashmir for their hospitality and encouraged citizens to explore India's natural beauty during the monsoon.
Concluding the programme, he extended his wishes for a joyful and prosperous Sawan, urged citizens to celebrate Independence Day with greater public participation, and expressed solidarity with those affected by floods across the country.
