The NCC Girls’ Mountaineering Expedition to Mt. Tenchenkhang (6,010m) in Sikkim was officially flagged off today by Major General Sanjay Gupta, Additional Director General (B), National Cadet Corps.
This marks the first NCC cadet expedition to Sikkim since 1970. The team, led by Lt Col Madhab Boro, comprises 20 NCC girl cadets from across various NCC Directorates, supported by 17 Permanent Instructional (PI) staff and three officers, including a medical officer.
The expedition is scheduled to attempt the summit by the end of June 2019. Expressing his confidence in the team, Maj Gen Gupta stated, “I am confident that the team will scale the peak and keep the NCC flag flying high.” He also praised the motivation and enthusiasm of the participating cadets.
Earlier, the NCC Girls Everest Expedition was flagged off by Minister of State for Planning (Independent Charge) and Defence, Shri Rao Inderjit Singh.
