M. Venkaiah Naidu called for a coordinated national movement against human trafficking, urging government agencies, NGOs, and civil society groups to intensify efforts for rescue, rehabilitation, and justice for victims.
Speaking at the release of a training manual on home management for shelter homes developed by Prajwala and its founder Sunitha Krishnan in Hyderabad, he described human trafficking as a violent crime against humanity and a form of modern-day slavery. He emphasized the need for awareness, survivor rehabilitation, education, counselling, and employment opportunities, especially for child survivors.
The Vice President highlighted that all Indian states have reported human trafficking cases and stressed that society must work collectively to eliminate the crime. He also suggested translating the training manual into regional languages for wider accessibility.
Praising Prajwala’s work in prevention, rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration of survivors, M. Venkaiah Naidu announced the donation of his one month’s salary to support the organization’s efforts.
