The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, celebrated its 63rd Foundation Day, reinforcing its position as a key pillar in India’s global trade and policy ecosystem.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal extended his greetings, emphasizing IIFT’s pivotal contribution in policy formulation, research, and capacity building—all critical levers driving India’s international trade ambitions. He acknowledged the institute’s consistent excellence in shaping the country’s trade and management landscape.
Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal highlighted IIFT’s role in delivering high-quality education and policy engagement, noting its expanding footprint across campuses in New Delhi, Kolkata, Kakinada, and GIFT City. This geographic diversification signals a stronger national and global outlook aligned with India’s evolving trade priorities.
The event also featured Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of NBA and NETF, who stressed the importance of multilingual education and accessibility in strengthening India’s higher education ecosystem. Referencing the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world, he underlined the growing relevance of IIFT’s programs in preparing future leaders for complex global business environments.
