Jaipur | July 20, 2026: Rajasthan's Food Safety Department has initiated action against Jaipur's popular tourist destination Chokhi Dhani after an inspection revealed multiple food safety violations, including the seizure of 90 kg of cashew pieces without manufacturing or expiry dates and the use of cooking oil found to be unsafe for consumption.
The inspection was carried out by the Food Safety Team of the Chief Medical and Health Officer (Jaipur-II) following a complaint received through the 181 grievance portal.
According to Food Safety and Drug Control Commissioner Dr. T. Shubhamangala, the refined soybean oil used for frying food was found to have a Total Polar Compound (TPC) level of 31%, exceeding the prescribed safety limit of 25%. The oil sample has been sent to the State Food Laboratory for analysis, and further action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act based on the test report.
During the inspection, officials also seized 90 kg of cashew pieces (9 containers) after discovering that the packaging did not mention the manufacturing date or expiry date, a violation of food packaging and labelling norms. In addition, mawa (khoya) samples were collected for laboratory testing.
