The Jalandhar Municipal Corporation has intensified its crackdown on long-pending property tax defaulters, sealing several liquor shops as part of a special enforcement drive. The action has been taken against establishments that have failed to clear their property tax dues for several years.
Municipal officials said that with comprehensive data on defaulters now available with the government and the civic body, the Property Tax Branch has begun strict recovery measures. Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Rishi and Mayor Vaneet Dhir, a special अभियान was carried out under the supervision of Property Tax Branch superintendents Maheep Sareen, Rajiv Rishi, and Bhupinder Singh.
During the drive, a total of five liquor vends located in Nagra Road, Leather Complex, and Adarsh Nagar areas were sealed for non-payment of outstanding property tax. The sudden action has reportedly caused concern within the liquor trade circles in the city.
Municipal Corporation officials stated that similar action will continue against other tax defaulters in the coming days to ensure strict compliance and improve property tax collection. The civic body reiterated that no leniency will be shown to establishments that repeatedly ignore tax obligations.
