Mastiii 4 has emerged as one of the biggest sequel disasters in recent Bollywood history, as the Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi starrer failed to draw audiences over its opening weekend.
Despite reuniting the popular trio after nine years, the Milap Zaveri–directed adult comedy opened to weak numbers and continued its downward trajectory. After a dull start, the film collected ₹2.25 crore on Day 1, followed by ₹2 crore on Day 2 and ₹2.25 crore on Day 3, taking its three-day weekend total to just ₹6.50 crore net. With a massive release across 2,200 screens and nearly 9,000 shows, the film could not translate its wide presence into footfalls, resulting in show cancellations on Sunday itself.
The production and P&A costs—estimated above ₹10 crore—remain far from recovery, signalling a sharp rejection from audiences. The franchise, which delivered hits like Masti (2004) and Grand Masti (2013), continues its decline after the underwhelming performance of Great Grand Masti (2016). Early estimates indicate that Mastiii 4 may struggle to cross even ₹10 crore lifetime, marking it the lowest performer in the series and a major setback for the brand.
