New Delhi: The Indian Express has appointed Nandagopal Rajan as Chief Executive Officer of its digital business, marking a key leadership elevation within the organisation. A seasoned newsroom and digital leader, Rajan takes over the role after serving as Chief Operating Officer, where he was instrumental in steering the platform’s digital strategy and operations.
A long-time leader within The Indian Express ecosystem, Rajan brings more than two decades of editorial, business, and digital media experience. He served as COO from March 2024 to April 2026, after previously leading the business as Business Head between February 2023 and March 2024.
Prior to his business-side leadership roles, Rajan played a defining role in the publication’s digital editorial evolution as Editor – New Media from November 2013 to March 2024, helping shape its transition into a modern digital-first news platform.
Before returning to The Indian Express in senior leadership, Rajan worked as Associate Editor at India Today, contributing across Business Today and Gadgets & Gizmos from January 2012 to October 2013. Earlier, he spent nearly six years as Senior Assistant Editor at The Indian Express from March 2006 to December 2011, after beginning his journalism career as Senior Copy Editor at Hindustan Times in April 2000.
