Health Minister Shri Gajendra Singh informed the Assembly on Thursday that new land has been selected for the construction of the Sub-District and Trauma Hospital Shahpura, as the previously allotted site did not meet the standards of the National Health Mission (NHM).
The Minister stated that the newly selected site, measuring 2.4 hectares, is located amidst a densely populated area, making it easily accessible to the public. Moreover, its proximity to the National Highway bypass—just 500 meters away—further enhances its utility.
Responding to supplementary questions during Question Hour, Shri Singh explained that the Sub-District Hospital Shahpura was sanctioned on July 30, 2021 under the 2021–22 Budget announcement, and subsequently, a Trauma Centre was approved on May 3, 2023, under the 2023–24 Budget announcement. According to NHM norms, a Sub-District Hospital and Trauma Centre must be located together on a minimum of 2.4 hectares of land. However, the previous government had allotted only 1.5 hectares on February 23, 2023, which was not only below the required standard but also outside municipal limits, leading to public opposition.
The Minister added that the newly selected land belongs to the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) department. Its DLB notification has been issued and the land use conversion process is underway.
Earlier, in a written reply to MLA Shri Manish Yadav’s question, the Minister stated that an e-tender (No. 07/2025-26, dated May 28, 2025) had been floated for hospital construction on the previously allotted site. However, due to insufficient area, greater distance, and public demand for a more suitable location, the tender was cancelled.
Shri Singh clarified that the construction work has been delayed solely because of the lack of adequate land allocation. Once the new land is officially allotted, a fresh tender will be issued and hospital construction will begin.
