Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his congratulations to Nitish Kumar after he was sworn in as a Member of the Rajya Sabha, describing the JD(U) leader as one of India’s most experienced politicians.
In his message, the Prime Minister praised Nitish Kumar’s long-standing commitment to good governance and said his “indelible contribution to Bihar’s development” is widely acknowledged. Modi added that it would be a pleasure to see him return to Parliament, noting that his extensive experience as a former Union minister and seasoned parliamentarian would further enhance the dignity of the House.
Sharing his message on X, PM Modi said he is confident that Nitish Kumar’s rich political and legislative experience will add significant value to parliamentary debates and national policymaking.
Nitish Kumar’s move to the Rajya Sabha marks a major political transition in Bihar, as the veteran leader shifts from state leadership to a national legislative role after decades in active state politics.
The development is being closely watched for its wider implications on Bihar’s political leadership and the NDA’s future roadmap in the state.
