Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to embrace Atmanirbhar Bharat during his recent Mann Ki Baat address on All India Radio, highlighting the importance of self-reliance for national growth and development.
He encouraged the youth, particularly from tier-two and tier-three cities, to harness their innovative potential. Citing the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge, he noted that around 7,000 entries were received, two-thirds from young participants outside major cities. The Prime Minister specifically called for the creation of computer games based on India’s history and encouraged startups to manufacture toys, promoting India as a hub for toy production under the “Vocal for Local Toys” campaign.
PM Modi also praised farmers, noting a 7% increase in kharif crop sowing compared to last year. He announced the launch of Bharatiya Krishi Kosh, a database providing detailed crop and nutritional information, and declared September as Nutrition Month to emphasize quality nutrition.
Acknowledging teachers’ efforts during the pandemic, he called Teacher’s Day celebrations on 5th September an opportunity to recognize their dedication.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of celebrating festivals responsibly during COVID-19, noting their connection to environmental preservation. He cited the Thaaru tribal community in Bihar’s West Champaran district, who have maintained a sixty-hour lockdown as a traditional practice for centuries.
