On the recommendation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has provided state-of-the-art mobile forensic vans to all districts of Chhattisgarh. As part of this initiative, Mungeli district received a modern mobile forensic van equipped with advanced facilities at a cost of approximately ₹65 lakh. A special workshop was organized at the “Collector Janadarshan Hall” in the Mungeli Collectorate campus to familiarize police officers and personnel with the technical usage of the van and its role in criminal investigations. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao virtually joined the event from the ministry in Nava Raipur and flagged off the mobile forensic van for service in the district.
A New Direction for Crime Investigation
Addressing the workshop as the chief guest via online mode, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said that the advanced mobile forensic van would strengthen the law-and-order system and crime investigation process in Mungeli district. Equipped with modern technologies, the van will enable police to conduct preliminary scientific examinations directly at crime scenes, speeding up investigations and making evidence collection more effective.
Full Use of Technical Capabilities Encouraged
Inspector General of Police for the Bilaspur Range, Ramgopal Garg, stated that the technical capabilities of the mobile forensic van would play a crucial role in the swift and scientific resolution of criminal cases. He expressed confidence that the Mungeli police would make optimal use of the facility to ensure strong action against criminals.
Van to Play a Major Role in Ensuring Fair Justice
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Mungeli, Bhojram Patel, said that the country’s justice system ensures equal justice for all citizens. He emphasized that justice does not discriminate and that every citizen has the right to fair justice. He expressed confidence that the mobile forensic van would greatly assist in fair and accurate investigations based on scientific evidence.
Detailed Information on Modern Equipment and Techniques
During the technical session of the workshop, forensic expert Jyotsna Lakra explained the modern equipment and technologies available in the van through an LED screen presentation to police officers and personnel. She provided practical training on scientific evidence collection from crime scenes, precautions for preserving evidence, and methods for conducting preliminary forensic examinations on-site. She also emphasized that scientific investigation and proper documentation are essential to maintain the validity of evidence in court.
Prime Minister’s Appeal for Savings Reflected in the Program
A notable aspect of the program was that, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for savings and avoiding unnecessary expenditure, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao and IG Ramgopal Garg participated in the workshop through online mode.
The workshop was attended by Mungeli SSP Bhojram Patel, Additional Collector Nishtha Pandey Tiwari, Additional Superintendent of Police Navneet Kaur Chhabra, Deputy Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh, Bar Council President Rajman Singh, senior advocate Ravinder Singh Chhabra, along with police station in-charges, police officers, and personnel from across the district.
