Jaipur, May 15:
The Rajasthan government will launch the statewide ‘Vande Ganga’ Water Conservation Public Campaign from May 25 to increase public participation in groundwater conservation and water harvesting initiatives.
A state-level review meeting regarding preparations for the campaign was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy and Gopalan Department, Vikas Sitaramji Bhale.
During the meeting, Bhale directed departmental officials to actively contribute to the successful implementation of the campaign through:
- shramdaan activities,
- cleanliness drives,
- plantation programmes,
- water source cleaning,
- awareness rallies,
- prabhat pheris,
- and community participation-based initiatives.
He stressed that voluntary organisations, educational institutions, social groups, and youth organisations should be involved extensively to maximise public outreach and awareness regarding water conservation.
District-Level Action Plans to Be Prepared
Officials were instructed to prepare district and block-level action plans and submit them to the Directorate within one day.
Bhale also directed that special activities be organised at:
- gaushalas,
- veterinary institutions,
- and surrounding public areas,
with a focus on cleanliness and water conservation awareness.
Suggested activities include:
- debates,
- rangoli competitions,
- quizzes,
- and cleanliness campaigns at public cattle shelters.
The meeting was attended by Animal Husbandry Director and RLDB CEO Dr. Suresh Meena, Additional Director Dr. Vikas Sharma, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and other departmental officials. Officers from divisions and districts joined the meeting through video conferencing.
