Jaipur, June 24: In a fresh push to strengthen farm extension services and expand rural employment, the Rajasthan government has appointed 157 Assistant Agriculture Officers in the Agriculture Department through direct recruitment. Officials said the move is aimed at improving last-mile delivery of agriculture schemes and providing faster technical support to farmers across the state.
According to the Agriculture Department, the appointments include 142 candidates for non-scheduled areas and 15 for scheduled areas. All selected candidates have been appointed as probationer trainees for two years.
Agriculture Commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal said the recruitment aligns with the state government’s focus on both youth employment and farmer welfare. He added that several other agriculture-related recruitment processes are also underway, including posts for Agriculture Supervisors, Assistant Agriculture Engineers, Statistics Officers, Agriculture Research Officers, Assistant Agriculture Research Officers, and Laboratory Assistants.
The department expects the newly appointed officers to strengthen field-level agricultural support by helping farmers with improved crop practices, quality seed usage, fertiliser management, crop protection, farm mechanisation, and awareness of government welfare schemes.
Officials said the new appointments are expected to improve departmental efficiency and accelerate implementation of farmer-centric schemes. The induction of field officers is also likely to support timely technical guidance for cultivators and contribute to better farm productivity in the state.
