Jaipur, June 24: Rajasthan Police has taken action against more than 1.58 lakh vehicles in a statewide special enforcement drive against violations of the Motor Vehicles Act and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, with black films and illegal number plates emerging as the most common offences.
The campaign, conducted from June 4 to June 23 under the direction of Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma and supervision of Traffic DGP Anil Paliwal, targeted a range of road safety violations, including black films, fancy number plates, unauthorised red-blue beacons, flashers, hooters, pressure horns, illegal vehicle modifications and unauthorised words or symbols on vehicles.
According to Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) Dr B.L. Meena, the police carried out 1,58,517 enforcement actions during the 20-day drive. Of these, 58,965 cases involved black films, 40,367 were linked to rule-violating number plates, and 22,269 related to unauthorised words, signs or writing on vehicles. Police also acted against 16,190 cases of illegal structural modifications, 12,224 cases involving unauthorised lights or hooters, and 8,502 cases related to pressure and air horns.
On June 23 alone, Rajasthan Police issued 7,416 challans across the state. The highest number of actions that day was reported from Jalore (829), followed by Ajmer (710). In Jaipur Commissionerate, a total of 807 cases were recorded, including 465 challans in Jaipur West, while Jaipur Rural reported action against 306 vehicles.
