A review meeting was held on Friday in Raipur to ensure the timely and smooth arrangement of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26. The meeting was chaired by Food Secretary Smt. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale at the Collectorate Conference Hall, Raipur.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held with FRK manufacturers and representatives of the Chhattisgarh Rice Millers Association. The Food Secretary directed FRK manufacturers to prepare FRK batches strictly in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prescribed by the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. She emphasised ensuring the availability of the required quantity of FRK within the stipulated timeframe for rice procurement under the Public Distribution System (PDS) and custom milling.
The Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Marketing Federation (MARKFED) was instructed to obtain daily progress updates from FRK manufacturers regarding the preparation of FRK batches. FRK manufacturers were also directed to regularly upload details of prepared FRK batches on the Force Portal.
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) was instructed to ensure that the concerned Chief Food Safety Officers (CFSO) are informed in a timely manner for sampling of prepared FRK batches. FRK manufacturers assured the Food Secretary that arrangements for FRK would be completed as per the prescribed schedule.
The President of the Chhattisgarh Rice Millers Association assured that once FRK arrangements commence, custom-milled rice will be deposited expeditiously. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the Managing Director, MARKFED.
