The Madhya Pradesh Regional AI Impact Conference–2026 witnessed extensive deliberations on positioning Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an effective and transformative instrument for administration, economic development and social welfare. The conference brought together policy-makers, technology experts, industry leaders and startup representatives to discuss AI-driven governance and innovation.
During the “India AI Session,” Ms. Shikha Dahiya from India AI said that the India AI Mission is steering the country towards building national-level AI infrastructure. She noted that India has secured the third position in the Global AI Rankings 2025. AI, she said, is being adopted as a strategic tool to enhance productivity and leverage India’s IT talent pool, demographic dividend and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). Key pillars of the India AI Mission include indigenous datasets, Indian language-based foundation models, subsidised computing infrastructure, and a safe and trusted AI governance framework.
Boost to Startups through AI Kosh and GPU Infrastructure
Mr. Arjun Karthikeyan from the India AI Mission highlighted that high-quality datasets form the backbone of effective AI systems. He said that the ‘AI Kosh’ platform hosts over 6,250 curated indigenous datasets, along with sandbox tools and free compute access. He further informed that 38,000 GPUs have been operationalised at subsidised rates, significantly accelerating large-scale AI innovation. Through Innovation Centres, support is being extended to 12 startups for developing indigenous Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs).
AI Use Cases in Healthcare and Citizen Services
Dr. Janhavi from KRAI Diagnostics presented AI-based solutions for tuberculosis screening using chest X-rays. She said that with support from India AI, the technology has been deployed in over 105 countries and has also received FDA approval.
Mr. Aryan from Konverz AI (Nocoba) showcased the use of AI agents in government call centres and grievance redressal systems, highlighting improvements through WhatsApp-based interfaces, 100 percent call auditing and SOP compliance, resulting in reduced operational costs and enhanced citizen satisfaction.
Strong Focus on AI Talent Development
Mr. Karthik Suri, Head of Future Skills at India AI Mission, said that under the “AI for All” programme, industry-aligned courses, fellowships and 570 AI and data labs are being established across the country. Undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students are being supported with stipends, mentorship and compute access to strengthen India’s AI talent pipeline.
Integrated Use of GIS and AI in Governance
Mr. Sandeep Goyal, Executive Director, MPSEDC, highlighted the District GIS Planning System, which is strengthening grassroots-level planning and monitoring. He said that the integrated use of AI, GIS, drones and satellite imagery is bringing greater transparency and efficiency in urban planning, water management and mining surveillance.
