In the 38th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 at Lucknow, Kolkata Knight Riders posted 155/7 in 20 overs against Lucknow Super Giants, powered by a stunning late assault from Rinku Singh.
After a shaky start that saw KKR collapse to 73/6, Rinku anchored the innings with an unbeaten 83 off 51 balls—his highest score in T20 cricket. The left-hander shifted gears dramatically in the final overs, including a match-defining 20th over where he smashed four consecutive sixes, adding 26 runs.
Early Collapse After Toss Decision
LSG captain Rishabh Pant opted to field first, a decision that paid off early as Mohsin Khan tore through KKR’s top order. He dismissed Tim Seifert for a duck and later removed Ajinkya Rahane, triggering a collapse.
Mohsin went on to claim a five-wicket haul, reducing KKR to deep trouble inside the first 11 overs. The innings also saw a rare dismissal as Angkrish Raghuvanshi was given out for obstructing the field, adding to KKR’s woes.
Rinku Leads the Recovery
Amid the collapse, Rinku Singh held one end firm, stitching a rebuilding phase with contributions from Cameron Green and later Sunil Narine. He reached his fifty in the 19th over and accelerated sharply thereafter.
His final-over onslaught ensured KKR finished with a competitive total despite being under pressure for most of the innings.
Match Situation
- KKR: 155/7 (20 overs)
- Rinku Singh: 83* (51)
- Mohsin Khan: Five-wicket haul
With a required rate well within reach, LSG will back themselves to chase the target, holding a strong advantage going into the second innings.
