Leading specialty chemicals manufacturer, Shivtek Spechemi Industries Ltd, a flagship company of the Shiva Group of Industries, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bodal Chemicals Ltd, marking the acquisition of approximately 8 acres of land from Bodal Chemicals in Rajpura, Punjab, for establishing a new state-of-the-art specialty chemical manufacturing facility. Shivtek has committed an investment of ₹50 crore towards the land acquisition and the development of the new plant. The strategic acquisition is a significant step for Shivtek Spechemi in expanding its footprint in Northern and Eastern parts of India, and strengthening its sustainable chemical manufacturing capabilities.
Aligned with Shivtek’s broader green chemistry and export-oriented growth roadmap, the upcoming facility will operate adjacent to Bodal’s existing chemical plant in Rajpura, allowing for a direct chlorine pipeline supply, significantly enhancing supply chain efficiency, operational safety, and reducing carbon footprints. With the demand for plastics, rubber, and eco-friendly materials on the rise, the planned plant will focus on producing chlorinated paraffin, chlorinated polyethylene (CPE), and green plasticizers, which aligns with rising global ask for sustainable alternatives to conventional materials, and with Shivtek’s strategy of vertical integration and eco-conscious product development.
Speaking about the acquisition, Dr. Amitt Nenwani, Managing Director, Shivtek Spechemi Industries Ltd, said, “We are excited to partner exclusively with Bodal Chemicals as this partnership reflects a shared vision between Shivtek and Bodal to build future-ready, efficient, and green chemical ecosystems. Rajpura is a strategic choice for Shivtek. Not only does it offer strong demand potential in the region, but its proximity to Bodal’s chlorine facility will allow us to reduce logistics costs, carbon emissions, and enhance sustainability. This plant marks the first phase of our multi-stage expansion. The 8-acre land parcel has been acquired not just for the current facility but also to accommodate future expansions — further strengthening our commitment to green innovation and regional growth.
For Bodal Chemicals, the deal not only optimizes land use but also secures a consistent, proximate buyer for chlorine, a byproduct of its caustic soda operations, thus reducing storage risk and improving plant utilization.
Sharing his perspective on the deal, Mr. Ankit Patel, Executive Director, Bodal Chemicals Ltd, said, “This MoU is a win-win for both parties. It supports our chlorine offtake via a safe and sustainable pipeline, ensures uninterrupted operations, and strengthens our long-term growth path. This collaboration was less about land monetization and more about synergy between two progressive chemical companies.”
The location strengthens Shivtek’s network of production hubs Rajpura (North), Dahej (West), and Kurnool (South), enabling faster service to domestic markets in Punjab and neighboring states, and export access to neighboring countries (whenever trade opens). The project will also generate significant local employment across manufacturing, engineering, and support functions in Phase 1.
The Rajpura facility will incorporate modern sustainable practices such as the integration of solar power, implementation of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems, and strict control of air and water emissions. It will also ensure full regulatory compliance with norms set by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF).
The commissioning of the plant will depend on requisite clearances from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF), with operations expected to begin by end of 2026 or Q4 FY27.
As Shivtek looks to broaden its spzecialty portfolio and expand in export-friendly and eco-compliant directions, this collaboration with Bodal Chemicals marks a key milestone in its journey toward becoming a leading green chemical manufacturer in South Asia.
