Wall Street Today: Dow Jones Jumps 3%, Nasdaq and S&P 500 Gain
US stock markets closed sharply higher on Wednesday as Democrats' midterm election victory eased political uncertainty and improved investor risk appetite. However, data centre stocks declined amid concerns about potential tighter AI regulation.
Dow Jones: Advanced 1,569.40 points, or 3%, to 53,356.12.
S&P 500: Gained 119.70 points, or 1.6%, to 7,688.62.

Stock Market Outlook: Nifty Resistance at 24,200–24,400
Kotak Neo's Head of Equity Research, Shrikant Chouhan, said benchmark indices continued their positive momentum, with the Nifty gaining 150 points and the Sensex advancing 384 points in the previous session.
The Media index outperformed, rising 5.30%, while the IT index declined 1.50%.
Chouhan said the short-term market outlook remains positive, although temporary overbought conditions could lead to range-bound trading at higher levels.
Key technical levels:
| Index | Support | Resistance |
|---|---|---|
| Nifty | 23,750–23,800 | 24,000 and 24,200 |
| Sensex | 76,500–76,700 | 77,500 and 78,000 |
Chouhan said a break below 23,750 on the Nifty and 76,500 on the Sensex could weaken the bullish outlook.
Separately, the Nifty is expected to advance towards the 24,200–24,400 resistance zone, followed by 24,800, which is close to its August high. The immediate support base has shifted to 23,600–23,700.
