Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in the state will receive a free LPG cylinder ahead of Holi. The benefit will also be extended before Diwali.
The announcement was made during a gas cylinder refill subsidy distribution programme held in Lucknow. The Chief Minister stated that under the existing arrangement of the Central Government, nine LPG cylinders are being provided at subsidised rates this year.

Under the scheme:
A subsidy of ₹335.40 per refill is directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism ensures transparency and timely financial support.
In addition to the Centre’s subsidy support, the Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to provide one filled LPG cylinder free of cost to each Ujjwala beneficiary family before Holi and another before Diwali.
The decision is expected to benefit approximately 1.86 crore families across the state, enabling them to celebrate major festivals with greater financial ease and dignity.
