The festival of Vijaya Dashami and Dussehra is being celebrated today, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, truth over untruth, and justice over injustice.
On this day, Lord Rama defeated Ravana after the nine-day Navratri ritual, culminating in Shakti Puja. In remembrance, Ravana Dahan ceremonies—burning effigies of Ravana, Meghnad, and Kumbhakarna—are taking place across the country this evening.
President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu extended their greetings to the nation on the occasion.
In his message, the President wished citizens success, prosperity, and happiness. He highlighted that the festival celebrates the triumph of truth and inspires adherence to values of honesty and truthfulness, which are timeless. He expressed hope that the festival encourages people to contribute towards nation-building and foster a society that cares for the needy and deprived.
The Vice President remarked that Dussehra symbolizes the victory of good over evil. He emphasized the need to constantly overcome negative forces while promoting goodness and harmony. He wished for peace, harmony, and prosperity for the country and the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his greetings via a tweet on this auspicious occasion.
