July 9, 2026 | Ajmer, Rajasthan
Ajmer is set to witness a major boost to girls' education and defence-oriented training after the Rajasthan government issued the work order for the construction of a Government Girls' Sainik School in the Hathikheda area. The ₹20 crore project, announced under the state budget, is expected to be completed within 15 months.
The project received administrative approval following the efforts of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, who had requested Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to establish the institution. Construction will be undertaken through the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and is scheduled to commence in August 2026.
The new campus will be developed across approximately 20 acres and will feature modern infrastructure, including an academic block, hostels, administrative buildings, staff quarters, classrooms, an indoor games hall, sports grounds, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, a parade ground, internal roads, parking facilities, a tube well, boundary wall, and other essential amenities. The institution aims to provide quality education alongside military-style training for girls.
Devnani said the project will place Ajmer among the select cities in India with a dedicated Girls' Sainik School, helping nurture discipline, leadership, patriotism, and career opportunities for young women aspiring to join the armed forces and other public services.
To improve connectivity to the campus, the state government has already initiated construction of an approach road worth approximately ₹4.5 crore. With the building work now approved, the project is expected to gather pace and be completed within the prescribed timeline.
