Jamia Girls Sr. Sec School organised its Annual Sports Day on November 20, 2025. The two-day event commenced with a torch lighting and Oath-taking ceremony led by the cabinet members. Ms. Anjum Iqbal, the Principal of the school, administered the Oath and declared the meet open.
The athletic events began with gusto and students participated with full zeal. It featured various races, including 50m, 200m, and 400m. Adding an element of fun to the event, a Tug of War competition was also held among the teachers.
The Annual Sports Meet continued its vibrant energy into its second day, November 21, 2025. The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Patron, Prof. Mazhar Asif, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of JMI. His arrival was marked by a Guard of Honour presented by the school's NCC members, and he was met with enthusiastic cheers and applause from the students.
The event was graced by other dignitaries, including the guests of honour, Prof. Iqtidar M. Khan, Dean F/o Humanities & lang., Prof. Rihan K Suri, , Hony. Director CIE Prof. Nafees Ahmed, Hony. Director Games & Sports ,Prof. Mohd. Asad Malik, Chief Proctor, Dr. Satya Prakash Prasad, OSD to VC,, and Mohd. Nadeem Akhtar, Founder, Shikhar Foundation. The Principal and headmistresses of all Jamia schools were also present to grace the event. Ms. Anjum Iqbal, Principal of Jamia Girls Sr. Sec School extended a warm welcome to all the guests.
The event commenced with a soulful Quran Recitation, followed by the lighting of the torch and oath-taking ceremony by the sports captain of the school. The sports meet was declared open by the Vice Chancellor, JMI.
The spectacular Taekwondo performance by the students, under the guidance of Mr Shakeel Ahmed,a fifthdan blackbelter and an International Masters in Taekwondo added to the grandeur of the day. The girls’ Self Defence Team displayed some techniques of defending oneself from impending dangers and dealing with miscreants. The excellent performance left the audience in awe.
Prof. Mazhar Asif, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, JMI appreciated the girls for their Taekwondo performance by quoting Brucelee that “once he was asked what was the most challenging accident you faced? He said 'I'm not afraid of a thousand kicks, but the kick practised a thousand times.” He expressed his appreciation for the inherent strength of women, “Girls' power.” He advocated for learning dignity and discipline from women, stating that women are innately born with dignity, whereas men must strive to attain it. He implored all men to respect women, referencing the proverb that paradise lies at the feet of the mother. He further expounded on the concept of "Girls' power," asserting that true power emanates from knowledge, residing within one's mind and heart, and it shows up through focused concentration. He stated his desire to see girls surpass boys, noting that women are already excelling in various fields globally. He also highlighted the significance of sports, asserting that they contribute to a sound mind and heart. The ground buzzed with excitement while the chief patron delivered his speech.
Subsequently, track events took place, including the 4×100m relay and the 100m race, as well as a Tug of War competition. These activities effectively displayed the students' agility and competitive spirit.
The meritorious students were awarded at the end of the event. Additionally, special prizes for Best Athlete of the year in both Junior and Senior Sections were also given to athletes. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Principal, appreciating the efforts of participants, volunteers, faculty, and the support staff for ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
