The Child Guidance Centre (CGC), functioning under the aegis of the Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society, celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm on 14th November 2025 at its premises in the Jamia School Campus, New Delhi. The event highlighted the joy, creativity, and potential of children with special needs, who continue to inspire with their resilience and positivity.
The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran (Tilawat-e-Quran), creating a serene and spiritual start to the celebration.
The event was graced by esteemed Guests of Honour:
• Prof. Rehan Khan Suri, Honorary Director, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (JMI)
• Prof. Nafis Ahmad, Honorary Director, Games and Sports (JMI)
• Mr. Asif Anwar, Model Village Trust
• Mr. Abdul Azeem Asim, Ideal Relief Trust
General Secretary of the Society, Prof. Mohammad Ghazi Shahnawaz, and Project Director, Mr. Naseem Ahmad, warmly welcomed all guests and expressed their heartfelt appreciation for their valuable presence.
In his address, Prof. Rehan Khan Suri praised the Centre’s dedicated efforts and expressed his commitment to supporting the skill development of CWSN students, enabling them to become more independent and capable of contributing economically to their families.
Prof. Nafis Ahmad highlighted the importance of regular physical activities for children with special needs and assured all possible support to promote their participation in sports according to their abilities.
During the programme, Mr. Asif Anwar announced that he will make dedicated efforts toward establishing a Smart Speech Centre at the Child Guidance Centre, which will greatly benefit children requiring speech and communication support.
The celebration featured cultural performances by CWSN students, including music and dance, and one of the students beautifully sang a song, adding warmth and joy to the event. Refreshments and gifts were also distributed among the children, further lifting their spirits.
The Child Guidance Centre continues to function under the aegis and leadership of Vice Chancellor, JMI, Prof. Asif Mazhar and Registrar, JMI, Prof. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, whose vision and support have been instrumental in carrying forward this mission. The event concluded with a message of hope, inclusion, and dedication to empowering every child to reach their fullest potential.
