Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that empathy and compassion toward the common people form the foundation of public service, and these values must be visible clearly in both words and actions. He emphasized that officers must lead public- and national-interest initiatives through their personal conduct and behaviour. “The real test of public service lies in earning the trust of the people,” he said.
The Governor was interacting with the IPS probationers of the 77th RR batch who called on him at Raj Bhavan on Friday. Additional Secretary Shri Umashankar Bhargava was also present.
Governor Patel said that police service is an opportunity to bring positive change into the lives of millions. He urged the probationers to work with trust, cooperation, and responsibility. “You are the future architects of the police system. Continuously tour your field area—every three months, visit your entire jurisdiction. Use your talent and intellect to modernize and strengthen citizen-centric policing in response to changing times and emerging challenges,” he said.
He encouraged them to create a policing culture that cultivates respect and reassurance among the public. Police presence, he noted, must instill confidence in every citizen, community, and section of society that they are protected under the Constitution and the law.
The Governor reminded the young officers that the powers and authority they will receive are meant for the service and protection of the last person in society. He added, “Every section of society has directly or indirectly contributed to making you an officer—always remember your gratitude and responsibilities.”
Director of Madhya Pradesh Police Academy, Bhopal, Shri Mohammad Shahid Absar, briefed the Governor about the training structure. He informed that the 29-week training programme commenced on 24 November 2025, covering practical exposure to policing systems, units, and branches.
Probationer Shri Alok Kumar Verma shared his experiences from the training, stating that legal, technical, and physical training have brought invaluable enhancement to his personality. A vote of thanks was proposed by probationer Shri Manoj Kumar. The programme was conducted by Deputy Director Dr. Sanjay Kumar Agrawal.
