Police have registered an FIR against e-commerce platform Meesho and one of its sellers after a 17-year-old Class 12 student from Gurugram died after consuming a poisonous substance called 'Sulfas'.
According to the police, the teenager had allegedly ordered the substance through the Meesho app on April 11, using the name of a person based in Surat. He consumed it on April 28 and later died. His mother discovered the online order while checking his mobile phone after his death.
Following a court order, an FIR was registered at Badshahpur police station under Sections 106 and 286 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said they are investigating the online sale of the substance, the ordering process and the role of the seller.
