Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has alleged that the Congress government in Telangana is misleading farmers over paddy procurement and delaying the procurement process despite full financial support from the Centre.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy claimed that the Central government is bearing the entire cost associated with paddy procurement.
What Kishan Reddy Said
According to the Union Minister, the Centre covers:
- Procurement expenses
- Gunny bag costs
- Transportation charges
- Storage expenses
Despite this, he alleged that the Telangana government is delaying procurement operations, causing difficulties for farmers during the procurement season.
Political Focus on Farmer Issues
The remarks come amid rising political confrontation between the BJP and Congress in Telangana over:
- Paddy procurement
- MSP implementation
- Farmer welfare policies
- Agricultural support mechanisms
The BJP has repeatedly targeted the state government over procurement delays, while the Congress government has accused the Centre of creating hurdles in grain procurement policies.

- Crop storage management
- Agricultural supply chains
The issue continues to remain politically significant as both BJP and Congress intensify outreach towards rural and farming communities in the state.
